mom

My mother is wonderful. I think she gives you the best example of motherly bravado. The thing is, we live quite far away from each other now. Let's just say...we have the Indian Ocean between us. And she needs her daily dose of me. I do too, as a matter of fact. So she outwits my father with the telephone. This is of course an issue to ponder on, given the fact that my father is so superbly brilliant. But you know what people say. Crises make you a lot more creative.

Not that our conversations are insightful...

(on the phone)
Me: Hi, Mom.

Mom: Hi, kau.
(hint: 'kau' ,in Indonesian, is 'you')

Me: Yeah.

Mom: *giggles*

Me: What?

Mom: Kau...

Me: Yeah?

Mom: Sapi.
(hint: 'sapi' --> 'cow')

Me: Mom, that comes with a slightly longer 'aaa' sound.

Mom: Yeah, 'kau'.

Me: Ok, whatever.

Welcome to the wonderful world of my family. *bows*
